Desktop video editing systems give producers and production companies a great deal of freedom when assembling their programmes, but they may not be the best devices to produce a great sounding audio track. Poor monitoring, inflexible methods of working, noisy computers and an editor who is busy looking after the pictures, often make it impossible to produce consistent audio mixes. And if you need a Music and Effects track to be produced you may be pushing a desktop system too far.
