The lines between off-line and on-line editing have been blurring for a few years now. The old off-line model is still applicable where a production uses a huge amount of material which all must be instantly available during the editing process. For many short form programmes however it has become quicker and easier to digitise all of the source material at full resolution and then simply edit the programme and play it out to tape or to an MPEG file. At DVA we can work in either of these ways.
